Illustrated with 151 engravings on 116 sheets, including the frontispiece, and the engraved plate by William Blake "The Beggar's Opera." Additionally, three loose plates in rear pocket, comprising the suppressed "Before & After" plates. Contemporary three-quarter brick red morocco and marbled boards; spine richly gilt; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers. Joints rubbed; creasing to title-page, moderate foxing at front and rear, otherwise primarily marginal light to moderate foxing, moderate foxing to the loose plates. Ex-library with book-plate on front paste-down, pencil markings on verso of front free endpaper, and call number in pencil on title-page; plates free of all markings.
