By Manfred Wild for Emil BeckerIdar-Oberstein, Germany Reportedly inspired by a similar one made for the Sultan of Brunei, the present bird is carved from a single large specimen of rubellite tourmaline, weighing approximately 635.5 carats, with gold feet and comb and, diamond-set eyes and an indicolite tourmaline beak. The bird is perched upon a frosted rock crystal quartz branch, raised upon a polished Russian black obsidian based, rimmed with gold. Base signed with monogram signature EB for Emil Becker. Measuring 6 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 in (15.24 x 8.89cm x 8.89cm)
