Frederick Victor Bailey (1919-1996) was a 20th Century painter of still life compositions in the Dutch Old master style who lived in Brighton. He studied the techniques of the earlier painters and becoming the leading proponent of his field. Meticulously depicted petal by petal, this painting successfully delivers 18th century Dutch master’s message about the brevity of life through the fate of beautiful flowers which demure yet withering quickly.His paintings appear regularly on the international market such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s, however such a big sized painting has never to be seen in the auction before.
