清康熙吴梅鼎在《阳羡茗壶赋》中述：“圆者如丸，体稍纵，为龙蛋”。此即龙蛋壶最早的记载。龙蛋壶以简单曲线构成基本轮廓，整体圆润，殊为可爱。此件龙蛋器型硕大，气韵饱满。锥形直流，上细下粗呈漏斗式，出水爽利。执把厚实，倒挂而垂，长弧下曲，形若耳状，壶钮圆锥似覃菇，器形线条流畅，气韵饱满，神采奕奕，做工精雅有致。此器结构严谨，比例协调，为早期茗壶的典范造型。
