Of compressed form, the vase is delicately carved in shallow relief to the body with lotus and leaf motifs, surmounted by a waisted neck adorned with upright lappets and flanked by a pair of elephant-head handles supporting rings. The cover with straight sides has a tapering shoulder carved with further ru-yi scrolls, surmounted by an oval finial that is edged with a rope-twist design.
