此杯以竹根制成，雕成一张半开卷曲的荷叶，外壁雕刻叶脉，茎杆在底部婉转盘旋，构思巧妙。古人造物常以自然所存在的物体来寄托思想，表达对清静质朴生活的追求。取式于荷叶的象生杯盛酒后，因无法放置于桌上，酒入杯中只能一饮而尽，故又戏称为“奈何杯”，自可在筵席间佐清欢、助燕喜。
