此笔筒极富金石味，一面作减地阳文：“史仆作尊壶，仆其万年，子子孙孙，永宝用享。”其左题记道：“新纪元二十六年（1937）二月，抚积古斋本史仆壶盖铭十七字。潘郯。”另一面上方刻古钱，下方题记：“此钱背平无郭，负径一寸三分半，金石记云：秦半两稍重，汉半两稍轻，此系秦钱也。”
潘郯（1886-1961），字行庸，号味庵、寄厂，别号拙叟。嘉定人，潘松筠之子。业内称其为民国嘉定竹刻巨擘，嘉定竹刻的殿军、最后一位大师。
