Charles Bullet II (1860 - 1927) Sanibel Island, Captiva Florida coastal painting. Oil on board. Sight size: 7.5 x 9.5 inches. Signed lower left. While little is currently known about his long-term place in the cultural community in the Lee County area of Southwest Florida, during his stay there, William Gerdts, the Dean of Florida art historians, does include Bullet along with George Inness Jr., another Tonalist painter, and Frederick Frieseke, a master of Florida impressionism, in Gerdts\' The Flowering of Florida Art. It was printed in 1997 to accompany an early exhibition of Florida landscape painting at the Eckert Galleries in Naples, Florida. The largest group of Bullet\'s colorful and painterly oils and watercolors in the public trust are included in the collection of the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, Florida.
