A pair of Meissen ornithological double-gourd vases, circa 1745-50Painted on each side with two vignettes depicting birds perched on leafy branches, between gilt line borders, the rims gilt, 29cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, both with impressed numeral 21 (restored) (2)注脚The depictions of birds are probably based on Eleazar Albin's A Natural History of Birds, published in London in 1731 and acquired by J.G. Höroldt in April 1745 as a source for the painting workshop.
