Piccaluga was a banker (trader) from Genoa, described in the sales registers as a négociant. Another service which seems to have been of identical decoration, but included a smaller number of service components, was acquired by the Marquis de Néelle in July of the same year. However, seaux ovales (four in the service) were only included in the delivery to M. Piccaluga.
