A continental military walnut and brass mounted flintlock pistol, stamped with various numbers, late 18th / early 19th century, 43.5cm long. Provenance: The estate of the late John F. Braund. This flintlock pistol was discovered by John Braund in the inglenook chimney of his house, a 15th century gabled property, in Stony Lane, Thaxted. The house was reputed to have been a haunt of the famous highwayman Dick Turpin.
