Benno Schotz RSA (1891-1984) - 'Petrouchka' figure of a youth shivering with cold, terracotta, signed, 36 cm high.
Lot includes a 1964 letter to the owner stating that, on enquiry, Schotz had confirmed that the figure was by him, that it was inspired by a performance in Glasgow of the Ballet Petrouchka, as one of three in (approximately) 1946. Apparently unsatisfied with them, he never offered any of them for sale. The lot also includes the Christie's Studio Sale catalogue, 24th September 1997 (no examples of this figure appeared)
