The almost square stand is superbly carved through the cinnabar-red lacquer. The lobed top is incised with a stylised floral pattern, and is supported on a high waist decorated with dragons against tumultuous waves, joined by a shaped apron and four tapering cabriole legs carved in low and high relief, all decorated with confronting dragons chasing the flaming pearl. The legs terminate in scroll feet formed by ruyi clouds, joined by a low base formed by four shaped stretchers.
