A PAIR OF PEREPEDIL RUGS, EAST CAUCASUS approx: 6ft.8in. x 4ft.6in. & 6ft.8in. x 4ft.8in. Each rug with classic design of various angular and serrated panels, together with stylised ram-horns and hooked s-motifs. In kufic border of polychrome palmettes enclosed by hooked brackets between star, baton and arrow-head stripes. Touches of slight. wear to the pile in one or two very small places, otherwise good pile. Selvages original with touches of fraying on one piece towards one corner. Ends with short fringes also slightly fraying. in general both rugs are in good usable condition. Very unusual to have a pair of rugs for this type. Good colour combination and nice furnishing pieces. metric size: 204cm. x 138cm. & 204cm. x 144cm.
