AN ORIENTALIST IVORY-INLAID DISPLAY CABINET Possibly France or Italy, late 19th century Of vertical rectangular shape, on a stepped plain base, built in two detachable parts, the lower part terminating above the ivory-inlaid inscribed drawer, the upper part rising from the desk set into an architectural composition with polylobed arches, columns carved with Islamic-inspired motifs, a Neo-classical balustrade and a smaller balcony above it, a total of seven crescent moon-shaped finials on the two registers, European-inspired volutes at the top, the upper part inclusive of a mirror, 218cm x 46cm x 75cm. Inscription on the front: 'Patience is the key to well being / success' Inscription on the sides: 'May you see what you desire'
