With him he graduated between 1771 and 1777 an education in mythological and religious painting. In 1772 he received the price of painting and sculpture from the Academy. From 1780 he worked for the Prince of Condé. He was the second son of Jacques Dubois de Jancigny (1723-1792), adviser to the kingfrom Burgundy to Dijon and his wife Elisabeth Fanney or Fanet (1729-1801). Ab 1780 arbeitete er für den Prinzen von Condé. Er war der zweite Sohn von Jacques Dubois de Jancigny (1723-1792), Berater des Königs von Burgund bis Dijon und seiner Frau Elisabeth Fanney oder Fanet (1729-1801).
