A strung mahogany eight-day longcase clock, c.1780, by George Hewitt, Marlborough, the arched, brass dial with a painted moonphase, a silvered nameplate, a brass dial with a silvered chapter ring, seconds dial and calendar aperture, the hood with a swan neck pediment, the case with reeded quarter columns, dial 11¼in diameter (28.5cm) case 208cm high Provenance: The Bryan and Valerie Steele Collection.
