English School, a bust of Sir Thomas More, bronze, on a wooden base, the back inscribed 'Sir Thomas More' and signed indistinctly with initials, dated 2000 and numbered 1/12, 76cm wide 64cm high Sir Thomas More (1478-1535) was an English lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman, and noted Renaissance humanist. He was also a counsellor to Henry VIII, and Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to 16 May 1532. He was tried for treason at Westminster and, on 6 July 1535, was executed on Tower Hill.
