Two Bristol delftware plates c.1740-50, Temple Back pottery, one painted in blue, the other in polychrome enamels, with a Chinese figure holding a fan and standing beneath a gnarled tree, and two Lambeth delftware plates, one painted in blue with a Chinese figure seated beneath a large parasol, the other with a figure standing behind an ornamental fence beside holey rockwork, some faults, 22.8cm max. (4) Provenance: respectively acquired from Phillips, 4th November 1970, lot 36; Puttick & Simpson, 8th March 1966, lot 149; and Sotheby's, 1st June 1965, lot 77 (part), the latter formerly in the collection of F H Garner.
