A Russian silver gilt-bronze medal-set snuffboxmaker's mark indistinct, Moscow, 1817. Rounded rectangular and allover engraved with geometric designs, the lid centering an 1814. Medal depicting Emperor Alexander I Pavlovich and Empress Elizaveta Alexeievna and dated 1814, the gilt-washed interior engraved in Russian "From Great-Grandfather N.V. Markov to [his] great-grandson V.I. Orbin'," the case with maker's mark in Cyrillic possibly that of unknown maker V.L. (Postnikova-Losseva No. 2315), hallmarks for 84 zolotniki silver, Moscow, and unknown assay master in Cyrillic "M.N." and dated 1817.H: 2 3/4, W: 3 1/4 in.
