Large globular vase (tsubo) with an out flaring mouth with a narrow neck; the so-called: hekimei-glaze is purple coloured at the mouth and changes on the vase from above blue towards greenish-yellow and a deep dark almost black blue. With a dark red bottom mark: Kutani Masahiko. In original signed box. With a leaflet listing the activities of the potter till Showa 60 (1985).Kutani Masahiko is the artist name of the master potter Tokuda Yasokichi III (1933-2009).
