Syria, 19th Centuryof circular form with raised flattened rim, profusely engraved and decorated in gold overlay with a central roundel containing a series of arches containing standing figures and arabesques, the border with paired lions and sheep, surrounded by a band containing a series of cartouches containing inscriptions, perching birds and quadrupeds in combat, the rim with further inscription-filled cartouches
