William De Morgan (1839-1917), a hand painted six-inch 'Galleon' tile 1898, partially obscured impressed Late Fulham Period circular markPainted in shades of green with a galleon with a ribbon flag at the bow and scrolling waves at the prow, glazed15.3 cm square
Small chip to glaze a quarter the way down on the right side and smaller chip to bottom left corner. Some further tiny nicks and nibbles occasionally to edges. There are some tiny bubbles and a few specks on the surface of the glaze but this it how it was made. Some crazing to the glaze. On the back there is residue of old mortar and this is what is partially obscuring the mark. You can make the M and the 8 and part of the 9 in what should be DM98.
