The Shamrock golf ball circa 1910In chocolate brown, this rare rubber cored golf ball was made for and exclusively retailed by the Mitchell chain in Manchester and Liverpool. The cover pattern comprises deeply sunk individual shamrocks within round discs. One pole features the ball's name and the other details of Mitchells' locations.
注脚Further research indicates that this is probably one of only two surviving examples made by the same golf ball company that made the chocolate brown coloured Coruna ball that was decorated in the same style, but with Coronet emblems, and was exclusively sold at the same time by another North West retailer, Finnigans of Liverpool.
In 2006 Bonhams sold a Coronet golf ball for £3,400 plus premium
