AN EGYPTIAN GRANODIORITE TORSONew Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Circa 1550 - 1292 B.C.Possibly a depiction of the goddess Sekhmet, the life-size torso is carved in mottled stone with round breasts, and a slender waist, the lower part of a striated tripartite wig survives, the dorsal column inscribed with hieroglyphs, 50cm high.Provenance:Private collection, Zurich, 1952 (Coninx Museum);with Forge & Lynch, London;with Rupert Wace Ancient Art, London, 2002;Private collection of a lady, Rome, acquired prior to 2004.
