Two Edo period Japanese Waniguchi Temple Bellsthe larger bell is inscribed with the date November 1781 (Tenmei 7, 11th month), further dedication inscribed on opposite side, bronze bells known as waniguchi, or directly translated as Crocodile's mouth, resemble the wide mouth of a crocodile, they have a central floral design on each and chains for them to hang from a shrine or temple, the smaller one has a section of damage, perhaps from a bullet. 9.75 x 10.5 in.
