赵公明，又被称为“赵玄坛”、“赵光明”，“玄坛”是指道教的斋坛，有护法神之意；为玄坛真君，全称“金龙如意正一龙虎玄坛真君”，为三十六官将或是四大护法元帅之一，故又称“玄坛元帅”，善使铁鞭，并以神虎为座骑。民间相传赵公明为“武财神”，居五路财神之首，为天官中路元帅，统领“进宝天尊萧升”、“纳珍天尊曹宝”、“招财使者陈九公”、“利市仙官姚少司”等四位神仙，四仙专司迎祥纳福、商贾买卖,故赵公明亦为财神。
