弥勒原是五代时期奉化（浙江）的一位疯僧名为契此。因常以杖背负一只布袋入市，故称为布袋和尚。民间常将其与快乐、吉祥、雅量和多子多福联系在一起。此尊造像，面容饱满，双耳垂肩，双眼微眯，憨态可掬。身披袈裟，衣袍大敞，袒胸露腹，左手握一布袋，右手搭于右膝之上，游戏坐姿。下承细瘦的仰莲座上。虽不鎏金，但其包浆色泽古朴莹亮，是一尊优秀的南方做工造像。
