A Fine Chinese Carved Cinnabar Lacquer Box and Cover Of round form, the slightly domed cover intricately carved with a scene of scholar and boy on a boat, in the foreground rocks and, in the background mountains and an old tree, all on a dense diaper pattern ground, the scene bordered by a band of flowering plants, and at the foot, a band of lappets enclosing trefoils on a ground of honeycomb diaper pattern, the interior and base lacquered black.
