λ A mid-Victorian carved ivory presentation conductor's baton, the handle carved with a semi-naked figure of Euterpe, the muse of music, holding a lyre, above the Royal garter and with musical trophies, 60.3cm long, in a leather case applied with a white metal plaque, inscribed 'PRESENTED TO JAMES ROBERT BURN ESQ ACCOMPANIED BY A MUSIC STAND AND MEMORIAL BY THE MEMBERS OF HIS SINGING CLASS October 1866'. (2) Provenance: 'A Lifetime of Collecting' - The property of a Gentleman. James Robert Burn was a bookbinder and ran the firm of James Burn and Company in the mid-19th century.
