Lustrous, Chinese Qing Dynasty white jade carved tiger motif belt buckle. Finely carved white jade of belt buckles, in the shape of a chi long dragon lying on its back which dragon head facing straight toward shoulder, with tiger fiercely standing upon the body. Traditional name and symbol for yin =tiger and yang =dragon. Represents strength, military prowess and is one of the four animals symbolizing Power and Energy. The White Tiger presides over the Western Quadrant of the Heavens. Tiger is the third animal in the Chinese calendar. And the Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons.
