Lucy Taggart (American, 1880-1960), portrait of Mary (Polly) Souther in 1909 at age 12, at Cape Ann, Gloucester, pastel, unsigned, info verso, 23" x 17 1/2", in original ornate frame, 29" x 24". Mary Souther was the grand-niece of Civil War General Sherman. The artist was a friend of the Souther family. Provenance: Mary (Polly) Souther Quea; thence to her son Thomas C.S. Quea, Jr.; Barridoff Galleries, Portland, Maine, 08-02-2000.
