此笔筒选用黄花梨制作，不吝用材，表面光素以天然纹质取胜。笔筒圆筒式，平沿，厚壁，光素无刻，底穿圆孔。黄花梨木制作笔筒要求甚高，通常见到的黄花梨笔筒，需生长数百年，甚至上千年的黄花梨芯材方能做成。因此工匠在利用此贵重木材制器时，为充分彰显其木质纹理的精致，常不饰雕琢，以突出木材纹理的自然美，诗书之气，光华自现。此具特大型笔筒适合存放卷轴，具有较高的实用及收藏价值。
