MODERN PRINT (L'). Paris, Imprimerie Champenois, 1897 to 1899. 2 volumes in folio, illustrated green percaline from the publisher. L'Estampe Moderne was intended to be representative of the various artistic trends of its time. It was founded by the publisher Henri Piazza and by Charles Masson, future director of the Musée de Luxembourg. It is one of the most emblematic illustrated publications of Art Nouveau in which all the greatest illustrators of the late 19th century are represented with unpublished prints, reserved for the book. Each lithograph bears the cold stamp of the Estampe Moderne and is protected by a serpent on which appears a poem or text by a famous author related to the image. A complete copy of the 4 "bonus" plates reserved for one-year subscribers, with 99 (out of 100) lithographs and black and colour prints, all mounted on tabs. Paul Leroy's board, the ossicle player, is missing. An uneven back, small wear and tear on the upper and lower backs.
