[GRASSET (Eugene)]. HISTORY OF THE FOUR AYMON SONS. Very noble and very valiant knights. Paris, Launette, 1883. In-4°, ebony morocco, flat decorated with a large incised leather composition inspired by Grasset's illustrations, painted in brown, red and green tones, depicting a winged horse above a cartouche surrounded by compositions mixing floral decoration and trophies of arms, spine ribbed, silk guards brocaded on a red background, gilded edges, double covers, bordered case (Marius Michel). Famous work decorated with 269 very beautiful compositions by EUGENE GRASSET, printed in colour by Charles Gillot using a process invented by him and used here for the first time. Grasset's Art Nouveau ornamentation plays with the layout, overflowing onto the text with its tinted background. ONE OF THE 100 numbered EXAMPLES of the deluxe print on China. Very nice copy with the golden ex-libris by Juan Hernandez. THE DECORATED BINDING OF MARIUS MICHEL IS IN PERFECT HARMONY WITH THE BOOK.
