Remarkable collection of 274 WELL-BRITTEN PORTRAITS, partly by N. de Larmessin, from the best sources including Holbein, Van Dyck,... Bullart worked for thirty years on this work, which was published by his son. We find all the great figures represented, humanists, navigators, scientists, poets, printers and all the artists classified by school. Defects in the bindings, some rusty notebooks, the last sheets are reinforced in the margins. 2 sheets of text are missing, tear on one page without missing, the portraits are quite complete. EXAMPLE WITH THE WEAPONS OF THE MAIZIERES ABBAY, with the motto Maceriae. It is one of the oldest abbeys, established in the 12th century.
