Paris, for Les Bibliophiles Indépendants, Henry Floury 1896. In-4°, reseda green morocco, first dish decorated with a large floral mosaic composition of honeysuckle and poppies in shades of brown, red, green and red, with golden stems wrapped around an Art Nouveau style brown morocco frame on which are placed a bust of fawn and 2 swallows in ochre morocco, the whole above a palladium snake, the second plate is decorated with a mosaic floral composition with golden stems, with a bust of a grimacing figure, back with nerves decorated with a butterfly and a golden dragonfly, inner border of green morocco decorated with golden motifs and red flowers, pastel orange moire guards, double guards, gilded edges on witnesses, preserved covers (Charles Meunier, 1897). Original edition. It is one of the most delicately illustrated books of its time, decorated on each page with frames historiated by HENRI CARUCHET. The text, calligraphed by Antoine Barbier, is reproduced on copper with etching, and all the pages have been watercoloured by hand under the direction of Octave Uzanne. Edition of 210 copies on specially made paper from Holland, with lacerated brass, this one numbered and named for Maurice Méric, enriched with a complete suite of illustrations engraved with pure etching before the letter and with remark.
