Louis XV's "bleu céleste" dinner service is the first complete dinner service delivered by the Royal Manufactory of Sèvres. Delivered in 1753, 1754 and 1755, it consisted of 1749 pieces, some of which presented new shapes created especially for the king by his goldsmith Jean Claude Duplessis. This service used this new colour, created in 1753 by Jean Hellot, director of the Academy of Sciences attached to the Royal Manufacture.
