John Swatsley (American, B. 1937) "LeBaron: 1932 Lincoln Convertible Coupe" Signed lower right. Oil on Illustration Board. Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood Mint Stamps of the World Panel for the France Vintage Cars issue of 1989. In the latter part of the 19th century, the French word automobile had come into vogue for the horseless carriages many inventors were experimenting with. By the 1920s, automobiles became less expensive to use and maintain than a horse. By the late 1960s, thousands of different automobiles had been manufactured in the United States and Europe. Today, while many people fondly remember these vehicles of yesteryear, a select few are fortunate enough to own a vintage automobile. Image Size: 14 x 12 in. Overall Size: 20.5 x 18 in. Unframed.
