A Caughley egg drainer circa 1785 the circular, pierced bowl transfer-printed in underglaze blue with the Pleasure Boat pattern within a cell diaper and spearhead border, moulded loop handle, unmarked, 8.5cm wide See Geoffrey A. Godden, Caughley and Worcester Porcelain, 1st edn (London: Herbert Jenkins), plate 119 for for an illustration of another egg drainer, or 'strainer'. The author notes that they are sometimes called tea-strainers, but the eighteenth century Chamberlain-Turner accounts clearly show their original use, further noting they were frequently sold with matching egg cups.
