Maling, private secretary to the Governor of New Zealand, together with personal effects of Captain Maling to include a silver-plated salver, with central presentation script ' To Captain & Mrs. Maling, on their departure from New Zealand from Hervey L. Phipps & Fred.r. R.LE Patourel (sic). 1878', 26 cm in diameter, together with other effects belonging to and believed to have belonged to the original owner to include a silver calling card case with a card internally marked ' Captain H.B.W. Maling, late The Connaught Rangers,' , paper library book plate, an inlaid rosewood page-turner with a scene detailing figures carrying a central figure in a sedan bed, in the colonial manner, 33 cm long, a walking cane handle, the terminal carved in the form of an elephant's head with in-set glass eyes, 25 cm long, further printed ephemera, a Maling family tree, etc. Consigned for sale by direct descent of the original owner.
