A Qajar illuminated royal document of a marriage contract between Muhammad Reza, son of Muhammad Husain, and Bibi Shahrbanou, daughter of Amir Baba Khan, Persia, dated Dhu'l- Hijja 1221/February-March 1806-7, with 17 panels of nasta'liq text in black ink in a single column, intercolumnar rules in gold, inner border of lobed cartouches on a ground of colours and gold, the outer border of a scrolling foliate motif, the right-hand border studded with medallions, the top-most section of the central panel with a scrolling foliate motif and minor panels of text, on cotton, framed, 109 by 66cm.
