A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY DINING ROOM URNS AND PEDESTALS IN THE MANNER OF GILLOWS c.1775-80 each urn of campana shape, with lobed, fluted and ribbed decoration, the lid with a fir cone finial revealing a later lined interior, with gilt brass handles and gilded taps, the pedestals with crossbanded tops, the fronts with stained sycamore banding and inlaid with boxwood stringing, one with a hinged door with false drawer fronts revealing a vacant interior, the other with a top drawer to hold water to wash glasses, above a cupboard originally with a chamber pot and a base drawer for wine bottles, now lacking original linings (2) 182cm high, 50cm wide, 48cm deep PROVENANCE With Denys Wrey Ltd., 45 Sloane Street, London, S.W.1 and sold to G.
