A PAIR OF AUSTRIAN SILVER, ENAMEL AND MOTHER OF PEARL COURT JESTERS IN BAROQUE PEARL STYLE, VIENNA, LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY each in Commedia dell'arte style, dancing holding an engraved fan, mounted on a silver velvet covered socle applied with masks, each stamped 'KB' possibly for Karl Bohm or Karl Bender, with Austrian 'A' control marks (2) 12.2cm high (overall) PROVENANCE Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918) Lionel de Rothschild (1882-1942) Edmund de Rothschild (1916 - 2009) The Trustees of Exbury House CATALOGUE NOTE Karl Bohm was recorded on Frierdich-Kaisergasse in 1908. Karl Bender was based in Vienna between 1875-1892 at Wienstrasse 63 and then at Frungasse 25. He specialised in revivalist objects mounted in enamel and hardstone.
