A SILVERED 'ROYAL EASE' BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN, EARLY QING DYNASTY China, late 17th - early 18th century. The goddess is shown seated in royal ease on a craggy rock with a benevolent expression, holding a lotus flower, bejeweled with pearl necklaces, her hair tied together in a chignon hidden below a cowl, the forehead with a distinct urna. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Condition: Fine condition with a nicely grown patina and extensive wear. The base also with a good patina and minimal losses. Weight: 294 g Dimensions: Height 12.5 cm including base Matching hardwood base from the period, carved in high relief with rocks amid crashing waves.
