A small metal alloy, Asian sculpture, possibly Parshvanatha, the 23rd Jina/Tirthankar of Jainism, seated beneath a coiled cobra; another figure, possibly the Yaksha, Dharanendra, seated beside him, Provenance: The Property of a Lady. From a Private UK Collection. The iconography of Parshvanatha is uncertain here. However, compare for instance the red sandstone sculpture of Parshvanatha beneath the seven-headed Naga [V&A IM.74-1927], and the 7th Century sandstone relief from Madhya Pradesh [also in the V&A, IS.18-1956].. Please note that some areas of fatigue and deterioration extant.
