砚身题识：「蕉叶青花相间起，熊坑之石曰水肪，玉肌腻滑，千奇百变不可殚穷。」 盒身：「端溪皇巌」、「精华堂」 老坑古称皇巌又称水岩，是端砚众坑中的佼佼者。此砚额雕刻云纹，开云池，自然大气，包浆厚重，质地坚润，极为难得。 东京“精华堂”为日本著名的中国砚台古董店，常年从中国进口古砚。其古砚台收藏，堪称日本最多、最精。楠文夫为“精华堂”主人，在东京艺术大学成立“砚资料室”，数十年从事中国古砚及砚台的研究工作。
