Jean-Marie Gille dit Gille jeune born in 1798, starting from nothing, first rents a very small shop 132 rue du Temple before opening a larger shop in 1836 at 28 rue du Paradis where he installs his own manufacture. At the 1844 Universal Exhibition his stand was much noticed and he won numerous awards at the following ones, both in Paris and in London where he was the only Parisian porcelain maker cited in the Report of the French Section for his biscuit figures "remarkable for the perfection of the work and for their dimensions". When he died in 1868, his collaborators, Théodore Vion and Martial Baury succeeded him and became owners of the factory, which was transferred to Choisy le Roi.
