An Ikhshidid gold dinar from the reign of Ahmad (AD 968-969) and a Fatimid gold dinar from the reign of al-Mustansir Billah (AD 1036-1094) Filastin (almost certainly Ramla, Israel), dated AH 358/ AD 968-969 and AH 440/ AD 1048-1049 the first with seven lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to one side and five lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by two bands of inscription in kufic to the other; the second with five lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to each side; a little weakly struck in the centre otherwise extremely fine and scarce; good very fine and rare 25 and 23 mm. max.; 3.86 g. and 3.65 g.(2) Footnotes: See Stephen Album Checklist of Islamic Coins Santa Rosa, 2011, no. 682 and 719.1; and George C. Inscriptions: a form of the shahadah, a version of Qur'an, sura IX (al-tawbah), part of verse 33 with the added, 'Muhammad, the Messenger of God' and one section undeciphered. The mint name Filastin, a general term for the region, was almost certainly the city of Ramla. Ramla was founded circa 705-715 AD by the Umayyad governor and future caliph Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik.
