A Rum Seljuk gold dinar from the reign of Ghiyath al-din Kay-khusraw II (AD 1237-1246) Qunya (Konya), dated AH 635/ AD 1237-1238 with two lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to each side, about extremely fine, rare 20 mm. approx.; 4.47 g. Footnotes: See Stephen Album, Checklist of Islamic Coins, Santa Rosa, 2011, no. 1215. The Sultanate of Rum seceded from the Great Seljuk Empire in AD 1077 and established its capital at Konya. During the reign of Kaykhusraw II the forces of the Mongol Empire crushed the Sultanate's army and the Sultanate became a vassal state of the Mongols.
